Prot-Type-0
Prot-Type-0
This is a small local multiplayer prototype for a board game made in Unity.
It is about changing and enlarging the boardgame as the game progresses.
First you roll for the order of players in the rounds. Then a player rolls for the movement in his round and uses that to move around the existing board by choosing a path to take from each tile he visits. The player has to plan a little bit ahead as he cannot move to the same tile twice. If he has no allowed movement left his moving phase ends. At the next phase of every players turn they can set or connect new tiles to the board.
The goal is to collect as much coins as possible before the game is over after 10 rounds.
Every tile can have different effect: either it provides the player passing it some coins or extra movement for the next turn. Also some tiles give negative effect in the same manner of coins or extra movement, so plan ahead as you cannot pass a tile twice in a round.
I recommend playing it in fullscreen mode.
Also my trees cause a lot of lag, they can be turned off in the pause menu.
The models are provided by SyntyStudios' POLYGON - Sampler Pack.
Controls:
Spacebar to roll the dice on your turn
WASD or Arrow Keys to select the path you want to walk
Mouse to build or connect tiles
Escape for pause
Create a new tile: in the building phase first click on a tile and then choose a new place for the new tile to be and click to confirm the placement (indicated by the blue color).
You cannot place tiles to close to each other or create paths between tiles that already are connected (indicated by the red color).
Create a new tile on a path: click on one path and confirm the placement of the new tile added on the path (indicated by the blue color). This is also a way to connect to paths directly to a existing tile.
Connect tiles with a path: first click on one tile and then click the next tile to connect them together (indicated by the green color).
Destroy a tile: click on the tile you want to destroy and confirm the destruction by clicking on the same tile again (indicated by the yellow color).
Future Ideas
- An inventory to store some tiles to place (so you can place tiles that give coins/movement next to you and once that have a negative effect next to other players).
- Prevent players from creating paths crossing other paths.
- More variety of tiles (e.g. instant stop of movement, jump to another player).
- Only beeing able to have one type of board building action per turn. E.g. you can only create a new tile in a turn or just destroy one tile instead of beeing able to do whatever.
- Sorting of the arrows for movement as it can get quite confusing for the selection.
- More particle effect for e.g. visiting a tile and activating its effect, placing a new tile, winning the game or rolling with the dice.
- Make the arrows more visible.
- Sounds of any kind :D
